As I have mentioned previously, Double Cleansing.
So I never needed to double cleanse during my AM Routine — it's generally just a water-based cleansing or sometimes just water.
Yes, water. When the products from the night before have been absorbed, and I feel light, I cleanse with water. Splash some water on my face and rub in circles gently.
Therefore, it is in my PM routine that I need to double cleanse. First off, it's an oil cleanser, then a water-based cleanser.
OIL CLEANSER
To begin with, there are many options, from micellar water to oil cleansing balm to oil cleanser. I prefer the ones where I can use my fingers to cleanse. I find it tedious to maintain cotton pads — disposable and reusable ones. By the way, the picture above is what most oil cleansers look like.
This helped me -
- Make sure your face and your hands are not wet with water.
- Pump some oil or scoop out some balm using the top of your nail.
- Rub in circles on your face.
- If needed, use more
- Then, wash your hands with water while rubbing your hands.
- Then splash some water onto your face and rub in circles again. You are going well if you see a white residue forming (like soap).
- This is the sign to splash some water and clean.
- Pat dry and done with this cleanse.
Doing this entire process for about 30–60 seconds is alright. But, sometimes, it's just important to get some blood circulation.
You can skip this process if your face can be cleansed just by the water-based (meaning no makeup day huh?) You can use it only on some parts of your face if necessary.
WATER-BASED CLEANSER
This is easy. Follow the instructions on the back of the product. Typically it's simple.
Lather the product on your palms or your face, rub for about 30–60s and wash with water. Some might mention washing with warm water and then ending with cold water.
If you got any sticky feeling from the previous process, this step would help with that.
After which …
Follow your routine.
Which cleanser to use? Depends on your skin type and preference.
